Good luck to the Staffordshire clubs that have qualified for the 2010 PING Women's Four Ball Better Ball Tournament of England Finals which will be played Gainsborough Golf Club.

These are:

PING Championship Grand Final - Alison Smith and Jayne Cooper (Whittington Heath)

PING Championship Plate Final - Mary Hawkes and Julia Gaunt (Drayton Park)

Ten Staffordshire clubs have so far signed up to provide Beginners golf tuition under the new Staffordshire CGP "Go 4 Green - An Introduction to Golf" initiative.

These are Barlaston, Branston, Brocton Hall, Drayton Park, Ingestre Park, Izaak Walton, Leek, The Lichfield, Perton Park and Uttoxeter.

It's great news that clubs are supporting our new County Partnership's drive to get more people in Staffordshire to play golf. So, if you know of anyone who is thinking of learning to play golf all the details of the lesson packages and contact details for the Go 4 Green and Girls Go 4 Green participating clubs are available on the Staffordshire CGP website:

Congratulations to Sam Birks (Wolstanton) on finishing 15th at the English Women's Open Strokeplay Championship which took place at Whittington Heath G.C. August 3-5.

Sam comfortably made the cut after the first two rounds finishing in joint 13th place, shooting a great 73 in the second round.

The tournament was won by Julie Yang from Korea.
