Congratulations to Staffordshire County player Mel Siviter on her first tournament win for her college Belmont Abbey!
Mel, a freshman at the college, won medalist honors at the 2010 Kiawah Island Invitational, which was hosted by Tusculum College at the Cougar Point Golf Club (par 72).
She shot a 3 over par 75 on the first day Saturday in driving rain and high winds, then went on to shoot a 2 under par 70 on Sunday in much calmer conditions. Mel finished in a tie with Mitsuki Katahira of Daytona State but was determined the winner by virtue of a scorecard playoff with a birdie on the fifth hole.
The Belmont Abbey women's golf team finished fourth overall. |
