County Week Teram 2012

The Staffordshire first Team finished 3rd overall at the Midland North Region County Week at The Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club with Lincolnshire winning all 5 of their matches taking the trophy for the 4th year in a row, Derbyshire came 2nd with 3 points.

Staffs finished with 2&½ points and a total of 23 & ½ games won, winning more games than 2nd place! It was a close fought week with many matches going down the last. The Staffordshire team played extremely well and was unlucky not to finished 2nd.

Congratulations go to Julia Gaunt, Lottie Stanton and Lottie Turner who all gained their County 1st Team colours also to Sam Meese, Rachel Bishop and Annette Deeley who played in County Week for the first time. Mel Siviter back from university the States won 5 games. Bev Chattaway had an outstanding victory in the match against Lincs beating Holly Clyburn who had just returned from playing in the Curtis Cup and Madeleine Winnett in the same match against Lincs gave Helen Hewlett a run for her money! Sam Birks showed that fitness is a key factor, winning the most matches out of the team & playing all 10 rounds.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the players for all their hard work they have put in leading up to County week. Thanks to Anne Andrews Lady President and Annette Deeley Vice Capt for their support during the week. Thank you to all the supporters and caddies who came along to County Week.

I'm sure we will be knocking on Lincolnshire's door next year!
